The Satyrinae family of butterfly (or satyrines, satyrids) are commonly known as the Browns. Satyridae is a subfamily of the Nymphalidae or brush-footed butterflies with over 2,400 species.
These butterflies are weak fliers and do not like to be out in the bright sunlight.
Satyrinae have six subfamilies: Elymniini, Eritini, Haeterini, Melanitini, Ragadiini and Satyrini.
